Wonderful Writers: Julie Kagawa
Hi All! Wonderful Writers is a weekly segment that comes out every Wednesday! Every week I spotlight and discuss one of my favorite authors, books by them, and talk about their writing styles and such. I hope you’ll enjoy. Feel free to participate as well by writing your own post and as always you are welcome to use the meme/pic if you’d like (just remember to credit me).
About: Julie Kagawa is an American author who is well-known for her popular series The Iron Fey (four books in total). Kagawa has written novellas for The Iron Fey, along with the novels. She has written a spin-off series of The Iron Fey called Call of the Forgotten. Most of what she writes is contemporary fantasy. She is also the author of the Blood of Eden series which is a story that involves vampires.
What I’ve Read So Far:
- The Iron King (#1)
- The Iron Daughter (#2)
- The Iron Queen (#3)
- The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)
Why She’s A Wonderful Writer:
Kagawa writes these amazing fantasy stories that take you to worlds beyond your imagination. Whether its fighting vampires in a dystopian/apocalyptic-like universe or controlling the seasons with fairy powers, you’re always bound to have an adventure while reading her books. Her detailed writing paints vivid pictures of her characters and fantasy lands that make you feel that you’re actually there.
I also enjoy the fact that her female protagonists are thrown into challenging situations and from it they become these strong, confident women who save the day, but are still able to show us their softer sides. I recommend her books if you are a fan of the fantasy genre.
